Thanks to my pals from BroNEcast, this Saturday I will be hosting a panel based on Journey of the Spark as a Special Guest for the New Lunar BroNEcast: an entertainment livestream event with the sole goal of raising charity funds for Operation Smile.
Join me as I take your questions concerning the film and answer them live. But wait! There’s more! If you join us for the livestream, there are some really great prizes I’m giving away if you donate a specific amount of money.
- For $15, get your OC featured in Journey of the Spark. By donating, three lucky people’s OC’s will be selected by the Crew of the film and will be featured in the final product. Specific details will be revealed closer to the Event.
- For $90, a limited edition autographed poster from Journey of the Spark signed by Writer, Director, and Producer Eric Ridenour will be given away. There’s only one in stock, so this prize will be given to the first person who donates the exact amount of money first.
So don’t delay! The New Lunar BroNEcast is happening for 24 hours running on both Saturday, November 10th and Sunday, November 11th. Hope to see you guys there! Thanks again!

Hey guys, Eric here with a quick post to remind ya’ll that I’m going to be at Equestria LA this weekend in Anaheim, CA! I’ll be at the Con both Saturday Nov. 3rd and Sunday, Nov. 4th. So if any of you want to come and meetup with me, then you are all welcome to do so!
EDIT: There’s a picture of what I look like. Be on the lookout for that dude at the Anaheim Convention Center on Saturday and Sunday!

In November of 2011, a young avid Film and Animation fanatic began developing ideas and concepts for a fan-project based on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. His idea and concept was a dark and emotional re-imagining of the source material and his vision of what a Series Finale to the popular animated show would play out. Trying to find a story to match this concept, he dreamt of a scene in which 5 of the Mane 6, Princess Luna, and Spike were seen walking on a log across a rapid waterfall.
That man is myself, Eric Ridenour, and that was the main inspiration for Journey of the Spark.

I've finished up on watching the first two seasons of "FiM." Both were extremely well done. One thing I liked about one second-season episode is Princess Luna using the traditional Royal Canterlot voice. Will she use said voice for your film?
Luna’s design and her overall voice is based upon her Season Two appearance. So chances are you might get to see the Royal Canterlot Voice somewhere ;D

Will the film be more original than the original TV show?
Not necessarily. While Journey of the Spark is a completely original story set within the universe of the show, I wouldn’t consider it more original than the source material it is based off of.
My reasoning behind this is that many people criticized Chris Columbus for making the first two Harry Potter films far too faithful to the original source material. But see, to me, that’s not necessarily a bad thing if the source material is remotely good and if the material works, you SHOULD stay faithful to it.
With Journey of the Spark, I very much want to make a film that pays a loving homage that stays incredibly faithful to Lauren Faust’s original vision while implementing my own vision in terms of the story. Because what works with My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic really fucking works. So why shouldn’t I stay faithful to it?
Its a loving tribute to Lauren as an individual and the work that she, as well as the team from DHX Media, put so many hours of hard work and labor into creating.
Because the way I see it, since we don’t have Hasbro hovering over our shoulders, we essentially have the creative freedom to tell the story in the vein of what Lauren Faust wanted to do originally but didn’t have the freedom to do. So even though she herself is not working on the film, her vision still lives on in the heart of the story.
