To answer your question, the movie is going to be Rated PG as the film is much darker than a majority of the series due to it exploring much more contemporary and adult themes while still being presentable for younger audiences.
But if I had to go all MPAA on the movie, Journey of the Spark is Rated PG for Scary Images, Fantasy & Creature Violence, and Thematic Elements.

Will the film also have the look or tone of a Pixar movie?Well considering the fact that Journey of the Spark is a 2D-Animated film compared to Pixar’s 3D Animated films, in terms of look I would definitely have to say no.
In terms of tone, I think its just really up to interpretation. I use to pitch Journey of the Spark as the Toy Story 3 of the pony universe, but even that description I think isn’t really doing Journey any justice.
