I've just wondering. What do you guys use to edit the film and do the animators export the scenes and send it to the editors. Can you give us a process on animation to editing.

We mostly use the latest versions of Sony Vegas Pro to edit our videos, though we may venture outside of that program and into Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 to do more advanced editing with the film.

But when it comes to actual animation, there are two ways we usually go about this. If the shots don’t require heavy amounts of visual effects and can all be done in Flash, then I simply ask the animators to export their sequences from Flash and convert them into video files that we can edit with.

However, if the sequence requires a lot of effects work that can only be done in After Effects, we ask the animators to export their sequences layer by layer so that we can work off of the sequence individually and compile it in After Effects itself. This method was done primarily with the Midwestria Promo (the sequence with Twilight limping through the woods), compositing and layering together a sequence so we can freely apply the visual effects needed.

Happy 1,000 Followers everyone! As promised, I’m throwing you guys a major curveball by revealing one of the brand new things that will be featured in Journey of the Spark.

Here is our envisioning of the Changeling Empire! Featured in the opening to the film, the creative team behind the project ventured outside of the show to bring you a fresh new take on the Changeling home world. Here’s some of the visual developments and ideas our amazing team brought to the table.

The brand new updates don’t stop there! We’ve still got a few more things to share with you guys!

Persistence of Vision: A Look Back at 2013

movieland-ridenour:

About a few days ago, I had watched Garret Gilchrist’s latest update of the Recobbled Cut for Richard Williams’ The Thief and the Cobbler. Having known the long and complicated history of what Mr. Williams had gone through for his film, only to have it completely stripped away from him, I began reminiscing about a good majority of my own film’s production over the course of this year.

So thus, I’m gonna be sharing a good majority of my experiences with you in light of the upcoming new year approaching. But something that I need to make apparent is that when it comes to making a film, you sacrifice lot for the sake of getting your vision out there.

A good chunk of 2013 when it came to working on Journey of the Spark was a miserable experience for me. My key reason as to why I’m writing this is because I love my fans and my crew too much. This story isn’t really here to sway you away from the film, but rather its a way for all of you to understand why this film still exists. To give you guys a good understanding of where I’m coming from with this, I have to go back to the near end of Spring going into the Summer. Because around that time period, Journey of the Spark was VERY close to shutting down completely.

I wrote this last night as a memoir for the movie’s production this year. This is a very important read to understand where I’ve been and what’s happened over the course of this year. Its been an extremely long and very hard year for all of us, but its thanks to every single one of you that we’re on our way towards making something worthwhile.

So give this a read if you can! Thank you!
