Was there anything that inspired you to make this film?
There are actually a few things that inspired me to make Journey of the Spark. I’ll list down some of the big reasons why I decided to make the movie:
- The death of my grandmother was one of the big things that made me wanna do it. My grandmother was very much like Celestia to me, so the relationship that the two of us shared became reflected in how I wanted to write Twilight and Celestia’s relationship in the movie. Journey of the Spark is also dedicated to my grandmother and you’ll see a message at the end of the film in her memory.
- I’m not too big on most animated films these days. While there are some great pieces of animation out there, I wanted to make a film that harkened back to the early days of animation, when animators weren’t afraid of treating children like they were adults. I wanted to make a film that children could identify with on a emotional level, one that didn’t talk down to them or treat them like they weren’t capable of understanding what was being presented to them.
- I want to be an animated film director! I’ve always been a ridiculously ambitious individual and the thought of going out and making a feature-length pony movie was just an exciting endeavor to me!
How long you planning on making this? Heard that this was gonna be "Badass", hope to see this soon :) (also take your time, you can't rush art as they say)
The movie’s expected to run at roughly 1 hr. 45 min. or so

You should consider getting Jan from JanAnimations on your animation team! You might have heard of him but I not, find him on YouTube, he would be a great addition c:
Many people have told us this and everytime we have to say no. Jan works solely off of commission primarily because he works alone. It would ultimately have to lead to us having to pay him to do a good majority of work when that goes against copyrighting for the project as well as the fact that it wouldn’t be fair to any of my team working on the project for free.
He’s a great animator, but getting someone like him is out of our league and we’re perfectly content with the people we have on board already.

Will the songs be available for download or something because I've listened to the Youtube video of "On Our Way" and just that alone I want for my Ipod. And if that's the way the music's going, I've no doubt I'll want the rest of the soundtrack too, at that!!!
We’re planning to make the soundtrack available closer to the release of the film. All other songs being written by Forest and Jeff are being kept confidential with the film. The same goes for the score.
We’re hoping to see if we might be able to allow people to purchase the album on Bandcamp (you know, to support the musicians who create the music), but there are no confirmed details for this and its still up in the air.

Will those animation samples be anything like the final animation?
We’re aiming to make them BETTER. Mostly because we’ll be taking them a little bit more seriously.
