Does it sometimes bug you that there are people that will expect this movie to be 100% canon to the show?

It bothers me greatly. Something that people should understand is that too many pieces of fan-animation in this community want to replicate a product that only the original creators can give to people. People keep asking us to make the movie show-accurate, but the problem is that no one can replicate Friendship is Magic other than the people who make Friendship is Magic itself.

The most successful pieces of fan-animation are the ones who try to give themselves their own identity. We want to make something that acts as a tribute to the original show, not an imitation. People try too hard to be something that they shouldn’t. So many people wanna eclipse the original show, but by doing that they’re giving up the opportunity to be themselves and make themselves stand out as their own unique individual. So that’s what we’re deciding to do. We’re paying tribute to the show in the way we personally want to. Doing what we feel is right and being proud of it!

Can't just Twilight's friends go on this adventure of finding Twilight by themselves? Since they love Twilight as a friend a lot and I feel it would be more interesting if the mane 6 got the most focus in the movie since they are the stars of the show.

I think you might be misinterpreting what we’re doing. That’s what the movie does. No one else goes on the journey to find Twilight. The Mane 6 are the ones who offer to do this task and a good majority of the film focuses on them despite also focusing on side characters.

This is both Twilight and the Mane 6’s movie. I don’t think you need to worry about that.

Concerning Celestia in the movie, will she be going on the path to maturity just like the other girls as they find Twilight and bring her home?

This is tricky for me to talk about without spoiling a whole lot. In many ways, Celestia is portrayed in the movie as Twilight’s surrogate mother. Its clear that she cares deeply for Twilight not only as her student, but as her best friend.

Keep in mind that Celestia has had to live with a thousand years of regret due to what happened with Luna. Its thanks to Twilight that Celestia, in some ways, found the light to start anew. So she has a strong connection to Twilight because Twilight gave her something she felt she had lost. So imagine the emotions that Celestia feels when Twilight is gone. She feels like she’s lost another person she loves.

But over the course of the film, there is a point where Celestia realizes that Twilight is growing up and rather than wanting to have Twilight be someone she isn’t capable of being, she urges Twilight to choose who she wants to be and never judges her for the choice she makes.

Haven't you guys think of making a movie focused on another character like... Celestia? You know.. like a prequel or something like that?

It honestly depends. I could technically make another pony movie if I’m inspired enough to write another one out. But currently at the moment, I’m not inspired to write another pony movie with another character. But if the fandom is still going strong by the time Journey of the Spark is released, I would totally delve into another character’s story and give it a unique twist.
