Double Rainboom took a year to make with quite a few more animators and was less than 30 mins long. Are you confident that you will be able to make a film around 4 times as long by 2015?

What we lack in a team of multiple animators, we make up for in a large team of everything else and the animators we do have are incredibly talented and know what they’re talking about.

2015 is a tentative release date, so I wouldn’t hold onto it so tightly, but we’re confident enough and inspired enough that we’re gonna aim for it.

So, after I saw the trailer I had a lot to think about. First off great job, all your VA's did an amazing job, along with your artists. My question is if/ when the film comes out and is a huge success, do you see yourself doing more challenging work? Anyways great job, hope to see more!

I probably wouldn’t want to jump into something as massive as Journey for my second film. I kinda want to even out the amount of major films I do by working on smaller projects to even out the amount of work I want to put forward.

So it’d go big film, small film, and then back to big film again.

Will Journey of the Spark be something of a novelty, a real milestone, in movie history when it's released?

We probably shouldn’t get ahead of ourselves. After all, the movie isn’t even close to being finished yet. Whether or not Journey will stand the test of time is something that we will have to see come to fruition after the film’s release.

But hey, if we manage to finish it, it could mean a lot!

I noticed how many people didnt like Applejack's voice, but I think she did great

I’ve known Mirisha for a while (we’ve collaborated on at least two or three projects now spanning out over 4 years or so). She’s absolutely wonderful to work with and she’s an excellent singer. When I give her a character to voice, she’s very quick to understand how to voice them.

Though if I can make a comment, and this applies to the film as a whole, if you guys have a problem with something we’re doing and want to criticize, PLEASE make sure that you are being constructive about what you’re saying. Saying that “your stuff sucks” and then demand us to change it and fix it is NOT being constructive and if that’s how you want to get your point across, then we won’t listen.

But if you go about criticizing in a way that we can take away from it and learn, then we WILL listen.

has making this movie changed you in anyway

Its changed me in many ways. Its helped me become a little more in tune with working with other people. For every good thing that has happened on the picture, the team and I have faced many types of adversities.

Even now, many people outside of our fanbase are skeptical about what Journey of the Spark can accomplish. Whether or not we succeed in appeasing the hardcore pony fans does not really matter to us. We set out to make the film because we have so much faith in what we’re creating. The key to making Journey a success is never letting go of the vision. There’s a difference I feel between creating something and then creating something that you completely understand the meaning behind.

There are people who feel like the movie is going to be too dark or too melodramatic, but our fans are quick to defend the route we’re taking the film because they perfectly understand what we’re trying to do and that gives me more of a reason to make it even better! To me, I’ve never really seen something like that with a piece of work I’m creating.

But really, the enthusiasm we’ve been receiving from you guys has been phenomenal. If BronyCon was any indication of how excited people were about the project and how many new followers we’ve gotten because of it, I feel that Journey has the chance to really make an impact with people. And my job as the director is to make sure that we don’t let those people down.

We’re trying to make a good film. One that can stand out and be appreciated by people no matter how old they are. One that doesn’t undermine their intelligence and trusts them enough to really go along for the ride. And to me, that’s incredibly exciting!
