More than likely, the film won’t be making money off of the merchandise. The profits for those things will probably be for making back the money it cost to produce copies and such. You know, that whole deal.

Money for the soundtrack should be fine, I would imagine, since it -would- be all original content that is, at its core, just inspired by the music for MLP, you’d be hard pressed to legally action that.
