Its completely dependent on various things. The reason why Double Rainboom and Journey of the Spark were approved by Hasbro is because we were relatively formal about our letters to the company. The thing you need to know though is that simply having your project be Non-Profit isn’t really enough for them.
In order to get Journey of the Spark off the ground and approved by Hasbro, we had to swear to them that not only would the film be Non-Profit, but the film would be distributed for FREE. The project has to be used for the sake of free promotion for The Hub and Hasbro as a whole. If it involves using existing material from the property, that might be one reason as to why it didn’t get an approval.
