Hello. I am quite excited at the idea of a fan-made movie of MLP FiM, and I'm eager to see it in 2015. I know you're taking precautions as you explained in the F.A.Q. page, but I'm really worried that spreading the word around to make your project more widely known and to increase your cast's numbers, might lead to a C&D, like for the Fighting is Magic fan game project who was shut down due to its expanding popularity and its presentation in the EVO event?

Andy Price talked briefly about Hasbro’s practices for a moment during his panel with his colleagues at BronyCon. EVO put Fighting is Magic into the spotlight because had the game been put into the tournament, Hasbro could’ve lost the license for Friendship is Magic. Hasbro simply didn’t want the game being associated with their brand because it IS their brand and they didn’t want the game portraying their franchise in that way.

This has actually happened before. Major companies have almost lost their ownership of their properties because of projects like Fighting is Magic. This is the exact reason as to why Journey of the Spark is only being released for free online and is only doing major promotion in smaller spurts when we have enough material to present. Distributing the film through film festivals or home video releases is not within our common interest and will only open the project to something like a C&D.

We’re fully aware of the danger which is why we’ve taken the precautions that we have. We know people are excited to see the film become a reality. But just know that we are prepared in case a situation like that DOES occur.
