That was one of the key pieces of inspiration that gave Journey of the Spark its emotional and philosophical center but the movie got its sense of adventure and dark tone from a lot of 80’s fantasy films like The Dark Crystal and Willow.

I wanted to give the movie a very Don Bluth-esque feeling, one that’s heartwarming one minute and then dark and horrifying the next. Movies that play around with emotional resonance are movies that I enjoy the most.
