How goes the ongoing legal negotiations with Hasbro? Hopefully if JotS is an online 2015 success; it will encourage them to make more offical MLP films with darker themes and overtones that EG lacked.Ultimately, in the end, from everything we’ve talked about with the company, Hasbro is okay with us making the movie but they cannot grant legal permission as getting legal permission pertains to endorsement from the company itself.
So basically, they’re okay with us making the movie we want to make, but should we do something they don’t want us doing, they have the right to shut down the project. This was one of the key reasons the film went through the overhaul it did. We needed to tone down a lot of things so we could be safe and Hasbro would feel more comfortable with the film we’re setting out to make. But keep in mind that just because we made changes does not mean that the movie is gonna suffer because of it.
We managed to balance out the tone better so we could make a movie that Hasbro was okay with, but they themselves probably would never make. You could say that Hasbro is essentially choosing to ignore the project as a whole. But we’re keeping our distance in terms of advertisements so that we don’t bring as much attention to ourselves. Its the smart way to go about these types of things.
